About Me
Phyllis Herbe M.A, C.L.D
As a military spouse to a retired Army officer and a long-time member of the Fayetteville–Fort Liberty community, I understand the unique realities military families face during pregnancy and birth. I’ve lived here since 2018, raised five boys — including four unmedicated births — and built my practice around supporting families who want steady, skilled, judgment-free care.
I’m a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula, bilingual in Spanish and English, with a Master’s in Social Justice and Intercultural Training. My birth education philosophy is rooted in research and physiology-based approaches, including Spinning Babies®, Evidence Based Birth®, and movement-centered comfort strategies. I also spent a year in Juárez, Mexico, serving women in a local community — work that shaped my commitment to accessible, culturally aware care.
For four years, I was actively involved in La Leche League, both as a participant and as a leader, offering mom-to-mom breastfeeding support. That experience cemented my passion for helping parents feel confident in the early postpartum weeks and beyond.
Dogwood Doula Birth Services exists to provide grounded, evidence-based support for both military and local families — combining practical tools, hands-on care, and clear information so you can move through birth feeling prepared and respected. Serving this community is more than my career; it’s personal, and it’s an honor.
