The story

About
MomPowered Birth Community

Hi, I’m Phyllis Herbe, founder of MomPowered Birth. I’m a birth doula, lactation educator, mother of five boys, and the one everyone in my circle turns to when they have a weird question about mucus plugs, breastfeeding, or how to actually get labor going.

I’ve walked through hospital births, home births, Medicaid paperwork, and military insurance nonsense. I’ve birthed unmedicated. I’ve supported inductions, epidurals, VBACs, and more twins than I can count. I know what it feels like to be empowered, and I know what it feels like to be dismissed — and that’s why this space exists.

This all started with a simple (but kind of radical) idea:

What if moms had real support —

without judgment, fluff, or 42 conflicting Pinterest articles?

SO I BUILT IT.

MomPowered Birth is a community where education meets encouragement.

Where evidence meets intuition.

Where birth workers and moms come together, not to compare — but to connect.

This isn’t just a business. It’s a mission.

To make birth support accessible, smart, and unapologetically mom-centered.

Who I built this for:

  • First-time moms who are overwhelmed by advice but still want to do it right (whatever that means).

  • Military spouses navigating births far from home.

  • Medicaid mamas who deserve high-level support, not just bare-minimum care.

  • Birth workers who are tired of doing it all alone.

  • Anyone who’s ever googled “how to have a better birth” at 2am with swollen ankles and no clue what’s next.

What you’ll find here:

  • Practical childbirth education (no chanting required).

  • Breastfeeding basics without the shame spiral.

  • A growing community of moms and birth professionals who are all in your corner.

  • And yes — maybe even a doula in your DMs reminding you that your body was literally made for this.

Final thing you should know:

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all birth advice.
But I do believe in the power of women helping women — and I’ve seen what happens when we stop trying to be the expert, and start sharing our wisdom like it actually matters.

So whether you’re here to prep for birth, build your birth business, or just find your people — welcome. You’re in the right place.

Mom. Doula. Entrepreneur.

Every mom has their things. The topics they can talk for hours about. That they’ve researched, obsessed over and became the expert of for their families. Each mom has a niche of knowledge. Mine is birth, breastfeeding, and surviving a million toddler boys with a deployed spouse. I homestead, homeschool, and crochet. Mostly I share with and glean knowledge from my mama friends that have greatly enriched my life for years. I love Jesus and pray over my clients. I am grateful for the heartst that are touched by my work, and the blessing of snuggling sweet newborns as a bonus. I’m thrilled to be a part of this community and to build resources for REAL moms.

Our Mission

At MomPowered Birth, our mission is to equip, empower, and elevate mothers and birth professionals through real-world education, authentic community, and unapologetically supportive care.

We believe birth is not just a medical event — it’s a life-altering experience. And every woman deserves access to clear information, practical tools, and a team that sees her, hears her, and stands with her.

We are committed to:

  • Breaking down barriers to support for vulnerable populations, including low income and transient families such as those with military connections

  • Offering birth and breastfeeding education that’s evidence-based, easy to understand, and judgment-free.

  • Creating space for birth pros to grow their skills, build sustainable businesses, and serve their communities with confidence.

  • Centering physiologic birth while honoring every birth path — unmedicated, medicated, induced, cesarean, and everything in between.

This is about more than birth prep.
It’s about reclaiming power, building trust, and supporting moms before, during, and after the birth experience — one story, one course, and one connection at a time.
